Dr. Eileen O'Connor

Dr. Eileen O’Connor grew up seven miles from Westport and graduated with a degree in Medicine from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2007. After internship, she commenced General Practice training in 2008 with the Donegal Specialist Training Scheme. During the scheme she worked in GP practices in Ballybofey, Clonmany and Letterkenny and graduated from the scheme in 2012. In her final year of training, she also obtained a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Education from NUIG. In 2012, she took up a post, working as a G.P. in Foster Medical Clinic, Australia. In 2013, Dr. O’Connor returned to her native County Mayo and joined Louisburgh Medical Practice. In January 2014, she became a full partner.

Dr. Colm Staunton

Dr. Colm Staunton graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in medicine in 2010. After completing his internship in St. James' Hospital in 2011, he travelled to Australia to work in Gold Coast Hospital, Queensland. He returned home to Ireland to enrol in the Northeastern GP training scheme, which he completed in 2016. Dr. Staunton has been working in Louisburgh Medical Practice since 2017. He holds a diploma in child health; a diploma in obstetrics and women's health; a diploma in tropical medicine; and certificates in palliative care and family planning. In March 2020 he became a full partner at the practice.

Nurse Colette Gibbons 

R.N. R.M.

Nurse Colette Gibbons graduated from UCH Galway as a general nurse in 1988 and as a midwife in 1991. After qualifying, she worked for 10 years in Waterford as a midwife and while there she completed her Diploma in General Nursing in WIT in 1996. She moved to Mayo in 2000, where she worked in Mayo General Hospital. In 2004, Nurse Gibbons commenced work in Dr Henaghan's practice. She has remained up-to-date with the latest research in nursing and general practice, taking part in courses, including Immunisation Updates, Cervical Screening, Family Planning, Ear Care, Warfarin Clinics, and Antenatal Checks.
